Frequently asked questions
Questions about the district: what it is, where the boundary runs and how to get here. And about the directory: where the facts come from and how to claim your page.
What is Hammarby Sjöstad?
The district on the south shore of Hammarby sjö, opposite Södermalm, built on former harbour and industrial land from the late 1990s and now home to just over 20,000 people. Officially the district is Södra Hammarbyhamnen; residents say Hammarby Sjöstad or Sjöstan. Hammarby allé is the main street, and the canals and quays divide the area into Hammarby gård, Sjöstadsparterren, Lugnet, Luma, Sickla kaj, Sickla udde and Henriksdalshamnen.
AreasWhat is being built in Hammarby Sjöstad right now?
Not much – the city puts the area as complete around 2027. Fredriksdal in the west is the last larger housing block, Sjöstadshöjden above Hammarbybacken comes in the 2030s, and the blue metro line to Nacka gets a station, Hammarby kanal, on the Södermalm side in 2030. Across Sickla kanal, Nacka keeps building in Sickla and Henriksdal.
DevelopmentWhere do I find homes in Hammarby Sjöstad?
Almost only on the resale market – the district is built, and the new homes that remain are sold by the developers themselves. The directory lists no housing ads; those are with the estate agents and Bostadsförmedlingen.
HousingHow do I get to Hammarby Sjöstad?
The Tvärbanan light rail stops at Mårtensdal, Luma, Sickla kaj and Sickla udde and has run through the district since 2002, with a change to the metro at Gullmarsplan. Sjöstadstrafiken's ferry crosses Hammarbyleden to Södermalm free of charge, and bus 74 runs along Hammarby allé. The blue metro line gets its Hammarby kanal station in 2030.

Fryshuset in Mårtensdal has dance, basketball, skate and film, Luma library has a programme and extended self-service hours, the residents' association runs Sjöstadsdagen and Lumadagen, and the bars along Hammarby allé and in Luma have their own nights. An events page opens once the programmes are read from the organisers.

Where does the information come from?
Businesses that have claimed their page update it themselves. Other pages are filled from the businesses' own published material – menus are transcribed as they stand, opening hours are read from their own sites and the chains' store pages, and every page shows when the facts were last checked. Nothing is taken from review sites or maps.
How do I claim my business page?
Create an account, go to your business page and click "Claim this page". Claims are reviewed manually, and once approved you can edit the page yourself.
What can I change as an owner?
Descriptions in Swedish and English, opening hours, contact details, menus, offers and photos – all through My page.
Why are the opening hours wrong?
Hours come from the businesses themselves or from the most recent public listings. Spotted an error? Claim the page and you can correct it directly.
