About
Sjöstadskapellet is Sofia parish’s church in Hammarby Sjöstad, at Lugnets Allé 46 beside the Sickla kaj stop on the Tvärbanan light rail. The parish has two churches, this chapel and Sofia kyrka on Vita Bergen, and both have recently been rebuilt and renovated. In term time the chapel is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:30–16:00 and Wednesday 13:00–16:00; on Sundays it opens for the 11:00 mass, and on Fridays and Saturdays for baptisms, weddings and funerals. Its meeting room, Vardagsrummet, holds 40 and is let on Saturdays for christening parties and memorial gatherings. Music is what the chapel is known for. Every Thursday at noon in term time the parish’s own musicians or guests, sometimes from Kulturama, play with free entry, and soup and fika follow for 50 kronor. Autumn 2026 also has three Sunday concerts at 16:00, the last on 1 November with Ola Sandström singing his settings of Tomas Tranströmer, with afternoon tea from 14:30. Sofia Kapellkör rehearses in the chapel.
