About
Tavelfabriken at Båtbyggargatan 22 in Sickla udde is Marianne Fogelberg own studio and gallery, a short walk from the Sickla udde tram stop. She is a visual artist with a teaching qualification, born in Stockholm in 1949, and has painted at this address since the new Hammarby Sjöstad began going up. Her training was in textiles, under Astrid Sampe at the NK textile studio, followed by a social pedagogy degree in 1980 and fourteen years as a newspaper designer and illustrator until 1997, when painting became full time. She studied painting with Åke Arph, Sissel Wibom and Anders Wallin and at Gerlesborgsskolan, and has exhibited at Taxinge Castle, Edsviks konsthall and Stationsgalleriet in Gnesta among others. The studio sells work to private buyers and companies and rents paintings out for home styling. Its painting workshop, 2,500 kronor for two and a half hours with materials and a maximum of three people, is paused at present. Opening times are announced on Instagram or arranged by phone, so none are listed here.
